Church Road: Adding a snap of style to new container bar

Church Road Winery: Louvre Roof Project Hawkes Bay by Douglas

Set upon their iconic park-like grounds sits a new container bar at Church Road Winery in Taradale. Douglas was there to add shelter and flow in the form of a compact but stylish louvre roof.

The challenge

The client was ready with a consent-able concept for their new outdoor container bar, but they needed to add a solution for providing winery patrons with waterproof shelter while still being able to open the walls and the roof to let the sunlight shine in.

The end product needed to marry with the container structure and provide a seamless transition from the outside in. It was a must for the new roof system to bring style and functionality to the structure, and remaining in keeping with the calibre of the Church Road venue.

The Douglas innovative solution

A louvre roof was selected for its style, form and flexibility to let the light in beautifully, while automatic rain sensors could close it up in inclement weather. The Douglas team worked in with the leading contractor and joinery sub-contractor working on the project, to ensure the bi-fold glass doors worked well with the louvre roof structure.

The end result is stylish, flexible and a great match for Church Road wines.
