LOUVRE ROOF SYMMETRY + STYLE IN HAVELOCK NORTH
NORTH-FACING BALCONY ENJOYS AN UPGRADE IN PROTECTION FOR THE NEW ZEALAND SUN (AND RAIN)
As part of a larger refurbishment & landscaping project they were undertaking, the Scott family were needing help with the intense sun that was beaming into their north-facing balcony deck.
While a good thing over winter, the balcony would become simply too hot over summer. Any shade solution that they chose was going to need to reduce heat in summer, but also let the sun beam in during the cooler months.
They also needed a roof system that would complement the aesthetics of their existing Havelock North townhouse.
THE DOUGLAS INNOVATION SOLUTION
The Scotts favoured the style and flexibility of a louvre roof, so the Douglas team got busy making a plan to customise the louvre system to the space.
A louvre roof was an optimum solution, with its ability to open and close at the push of a button as well as being fully waterproof – creating an enclosure with maximum usability.
Our experts at Douglas carefully designed the louvre roof system to be sympathetic with the existing deck structure. Working directly with the manufacturer at NZ Louvres, the right-hand roof post was extended to ensure symmetry with the deck post below and blend the lines visually when viewed from below.
The entire system was powder coated in Dulux Titania to match the existing joinery, then installed by our local team – affording the client the peace of mind of working with a Hawke’s Bay company who stands by their work.
Enhanced by the quality of the NZ Louvres product, the Scott’s now have a stylish solution to their sun problem, and a usable outdoor space all year-round.
